She was telling on herself HER WHOLE CAREER!! She was born in 1941. Yet claims she was adopted as a small child in the 60s! Oh please! What was she thinking? And why doesn't this man ASK HER?

She knew she was lying. She threatened to destroy a family member for sexual abuse id he exposed the truth. A real victim doesnt do that. Oh and I've listened to her words....she does a very sloppy job of trying to justify her behaviour and back peddling. Being adopted by an indigenous clan is NOT the same as being born indigenous.

I really believe that Buffy did not like her looks as an Italian-American girl... So early on, she fantasized an identity with native American women, and built a successful life and career around that image... Sad for her real family to be discarded... But I think as her success grew she became more delusional, and felt that this is who she was meant to be... At this late stage of her life she certainly isn't going to set the record straight...

I am giving this book a chance because I got it from a friend. I also love the Hip so what could go wrong? By page 50 I found the author Barclay played in cover bands and a whole listing of Hip cover bands that I could care less about. It better get better or I won't make it to page 100.

Well, she looks nothing like her siblings... A DNA test would be interesting, maybe her farther was not her biological farther... I think there is something true about the sexual abuse. Not seldom victims break with the wohle family, because they recognised not their pain or simply looked the other way. I heared of cases of victims of sexual abuse in the family that they fled into a fantasy story as a way to stay sane, to cope with the pain.

Nobody on Earth has a moral right to “their truth”. Truth is not relative. “My Truth”= it’s bullshtt. I’ve watched all the docs about her and I’ve come to the conclusion that indigenous people should be the ones to determine whether they’re offended or not. Of course we all can have an opinion (I certainly do lol) but the Pretendian part is something that most of us can’t truly understand how much damage or hurt this may have caused to Indigenous as it’s such a personal issue. I did ask myself would she have been as successful without pretending and I think she would, even just as a songwriter she is incredibly talented, I don’t happen to believe she needed this extraordinary pretense in order to be successful and let me go further by saying that she still could have been a voice for people, she still could have written songs she wrote, and there are schools and people that are better off because of her, it’s just unfortunate she chose to do it this way.

Bruce is a lot more forthcoming in his later years. You could see it in his interactions with the crowd over the years. First time we saw him decades ago, he was almost condescending to the crowd, saying that he wasn't a jukebox and he'll decide what to play. His most recent show, he was so gracious to the crowd, when someone shouted out a request, he simply said that he wrote over 300 songs and had forgotten how to play that one. His interactions definitely grew more intimate over the years. Just an amazingly talented man.

Buffey definitely looks Cree. And many 60's Scoop victims were falsely adopted (bought) by Caucasians and yes falsified birth certificates and other legal documents. My husband is Cree from AB and same happened to him. He diligently researched his identity and lineage when he was in his 30's. It wasn't an easy task, but he prevailed and found legal documents verifying his heritage, his Cree family. The Canadian government and Catholic church hid and falsified many Indigenous children's truths.

I grew up in a family where we always believed that we had native american blood. The family story seems to have been Cooberated by a visit to oklahoma to a reservation where there were many many people with the last name of Peckinpah. Several of us had very indian features. A d n a test showed no native american blood. So there may be people who genuinely believe they are native american, Only to find they have no d n a to prove it. ❤❤❤ It used to be something many were ashamed of, So people claiming Native American heritage were certainly not doing it for approval. My Aunt Jane was full blooded native american, But she wasn't actually related to any of the others in the family by blood, only by love. ❤❤❤❤
